Are my travel costs covered for a Recruitment day or during the tournament?
We don't cover your travel costs for a Recruitment day or during the tournament. However during the tournament the organisation is considering if we cover your travel costs in Amsterdam.
Is an accommodation cared and coverd during the tournament?
Volunteers are asked to bear and care the costs of accomodation and traveling themselves.
Do I get a financial allowance for volunteering?
No you will not receive financial compensation for volunteering during UEFA EURO 2020. You will receive an extensive volunteer uniform. In addition, we provide food and drinks during your shifts and you are insured during the tournament. You will also be trained to perform your role as well as possible. And you will rewared with various gifts for your efforts!
What does the Kick-off means?
The kick-off for all volunteers who are part of UEFA EURO 2020! You will meet other volunteers and it will be a festive afternoon. The programme of this day will be just a surprise.

The first volunteers received an invitation for an interview. Not everyone yet! All registrations will be carefully reviewed in the coming weeks/months.
How do I schedule my interview?
If you received an invitation for an interview, you can schedule your interview by yourself with the Applicant portal. Once you have logged in with your UEFA account, scroll all the way down and there you will find your registration for Amsterdam.If you click on this, you can schedule your interview.
Can I choose a random day for my interview?
No, you can't choose a random day for your interview. Recruitmentdays are organized in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. You can see the days and times that are still available when planning your interview.
What does a Recruitment day look like?
A great number of volunteers are interviewed in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. At this day you will be assessed to see if you are suitable to work as a volunteer during UEFA EURO 2020 in Amsterdam. After your interview you will fit your Volunteer uniform. It promises to be an onforgettable experience!

When will I know more about my interview?
We try to inform everyone before Christmas. Hower, we want to process interviews carefully and link the right volunteers role to everyone, so by the end of January you will know wheter you are part of UEFA EURO 2020.

When does UEFA EURO 2020 take place?
The UEFA EURO 2020 takes place between 12 June and 12 July in 12 host cities. Amsterdam will organize three group matches and one 1/8 final.
What is the UEFA EURO 2020 Volunteer Programme?
Since many years the UEFA involves volunteers to give the general public the opportunity to experience their events from behind the scenes by getting involved in its operations.
UEFA EURO 2020 is being held across the continent for the first time, with 12 host cities in all: for this special edition of the tournament UEFA aims to implement a memorable Volunteer Programme across all venues, having thousands of Volunteers involved throughout Europe.
The objective of the UEFA EURO 2020 Volunteer Programme is to integrate and gather the population across Europe, as well as creating a legacy for the host countries: Volunteers act as ambassadors for the event and the host cities, putting in practice values of solidarity and fair play which link sport to volunteering.
The UEFA EURO 2020 Volunteer Programme in Amsterdam is organised by the the Dutch Football Federation (KNVB), and it aims at creating a committed and motivated team of 1000 Volunteers, which will carry a wide range of functions needed for a successful delivery of the Tournament.
The ambition is to ensure all participants enjoy a unique and unforgettable experience that may encourage others to volunteers for sport events in the future.
Who can apply for the Volunteer Programme?
The recruitment process is open to everyone willing to participate in the Volunteer Programme, bringing passion, enthusiasm and energy to the Tournament. However, eligible candidates need to comply with some basic requirements:
- Applicants must be aged 18 or overon 1 May 2020.
- Applicants must be able to attend recruitment interviews and necessary training.
- Applicants must guarantee full availability on 4 match days in Amsterdam and their commitment to a reasonable number of shifts scheduled at advance notice with the Volunteer Team.
- Applicants must be able to communicate in English (at least at beginner-to-intermediate level)
Any other specific or relevant skill fulfilling roles descriptions will be considered an asset.
Can seniors apply?
The Volunteer Programme is open to anyone who fulfils basic criteria listed above. We encourage people of different age, experience and origins to apply. Moreover, we encourage seniors to be part of it due to their wide professional and life experience which represents an added value.
I am 17 now, I will turn 18 on 2 May 2020. Can I apply?
Unfortunately, not. To apply for the Volunteer Programme you have to be 18 years on Friday 1 May 2020 the latest.
Can I still register for the UEFA EURO 2020 Volunteer Programme?
National and international applications
Can international applicants volunteer with a touristic visa?
Unfortunately not. To volunteer for UEFA EURO 2020 in Amsterdam you need to be entitled to work in the Netherlands. For volunteers from EEA countries (European Economics Areas), this isn't an issue. For non-EEA citizens this means you need to have a work-permit to work or volunteer in the Netherlands. A tourist visa won't suffice.
I do not live in Amsterdam. Can I apply?
The Volunteer Programme is open to anyone willing to participate. However, Volunteers not living in Amsterdam are asked to bear the cost of accommodation and air/ground transport themselves.
I am an international applicant. Do UEFA and the Dutch Football Federation (KNVB) provide any support to obtain visa to enter the Netherlands?
We do not provide any assistance in this regard. International applicants will have to obtain independently the necessary documentation.
I don't live in the Netherlands, do I have to be present during trainings?
Yes, also if you don't live in the Netherlands you have to be present during the trainings. These trainings take place shortly before the tournament.
What are UEFA EURO 2020 Volunteer’s benefits?
The essence of Volunteering is that it is undertaken without any offer or expectation of financial gain. Moreover, the Volunteer experience does not intend to create any employment relationship.
Volunteers will receive a series of benefits in recognition of their precious contribution:

Will Volunteers watch the matches?
Volunteer will not be allowed to watch matches as spectators. Of course, being part of the organising team, you will be at the very heart of the Tournament operations, feeling the atmosphere of event. Furthermore, Volunteers will have the possibility to watch together the matches at the Volunteer Home.
Will Volunteers get the public transport covered?
What does the volunteer uniform look like?
Your uniform will consists of different elements and it will be a surprise!
You can specify the size of your uniform during your online application. If you are invited for the interview, you can try a sample on to make sure the size is correct.
What does the recruitment process look like?
The recruitment starts with the online application at 5 June 2019.
If you are selected, you will be invited for an interview within July and October 2019. The interview will take no longer than 20 minutes and it will represent an opportunity to meet in person and go into the details of roles and domains.
Can I express a preference for the domain I would like to be assigned to?
We recommend you read the project descriptions available in the section Domains before proceeding with an online application: you will be asked to select whichever domain(s) you would prefer to be assigned to as a Volunteer. Please note that you may be redirected to another area on the basis of the results of the interview.
When is the best time to apply for the Volunteer Programme?
All applications are submitted without time submission privilege. However, we advise not to wait until the last few days of October to apply.
When do I get confirmation about my role and shifts?
You will get confirmation about your role and shifts within November 2019 and March 2020 and not later than 1 April 2020.
What is the availability requested for the roles?
In principle, Volunteers should be available from mid-June to mid July 2020. However, the detailed calendar depends on the volunteer role you are selected for.
Can I volunteer for more than one domain?
In principle Volunteers cannot be eligible for more than one domain. An exception is made for Volunteer Management Volunteers which may serve as stand-by to cover other positions in case needed. In this case, flexibility and adaptability will be their strengths points.
What will volunteers do during the event?
As a Volunteer you will be supporting sport event professionals throughout all the tournament. The specific task varies accordingly to more than 20 projects, so called domain, you may be assigned to. The communication language will be primarily English.

International Broadcast Centre (IBC)
What is the IBC?
The International Broadcast Centre (IBC) is the center of all operational broadcast activities of the UEFA. The IBC is located in Haarlemmermeer.
All TV-signals from twelve European Football stadiums come together and are sent from here to all UEFA broadcast partners.
How many volunteers will be working in the IBC?
About 100 volunteers work in the IBC.
In what period are volunteer needed in the IBC?
Volunteers start in May in the IBC. Throughout the tournament volunteers are needed.
What is the Volunteer Home?
The Volunteer Home is the gathering point and the relaxing area for all the Volunteers involved in the Tournament. It is located within a walking distance to the stadium, serving as office for the Volunteer Team, entertainment and training area for the Volunteers.
Volunteers can enjoy facilities at the Volunteer Home while not on shift and we hope they will share memorable moments together.
At which locations are volunteers working?
For the UEFA EURO 2020 Volunteer Program volunteers are working in and around the Johan Cruijff ArenA. In addition, volunteers are also working at Schiphol Airport and at the IBC (International Broadcast Center) in Haarlemmermeer.

What is the difference between the UEFA EURO 2020 Volunteer Programme and the City Host Programme?
During UEFA EURO 2020 there will be two different Volunteer Programmes, sharing the same objective of providing their respective Volunteers with an unforgettable experience and ensuring visitors and fans the best tournament ever in the host country.
The UEFA EURO 2020 Volunteer Programme focuses on all volunteers in the stadium, within a radius of one kilometer around the Johan Cruijff ArenA and all volunteers who are active in the International Broadcast Center (in Haarlemmermeer).
The City Host Programme is looking for 1200 volunteers who guide all kinds of activities in the city during EURO 2020. Within this program you are a City Host, or a host of the city of Amsterdam.
